From painters and sculptors to printmakers and mixed media creators, many of our local artists have achieved national and international recognition. Look for the star symbol in the artist guide and on our website to find these award-winning creatives.
Among them is Hamish Macaulay, whose delicate gel plate monotype landscapes have gained an avid following both in Aotearoa and abroad. His latest solo exhibition, Seasons, opened in August at Eames Fine Art, London, and saw more than half the works sold within weeks. His 2023 show was the gallery’s first-ever complete sell-out — an extraordinary achievement for our Kāpiti-based artist. Hamish will showcase a new series of works on paper during this year’s Art Trail, giving visitors a rare chance to view and purchase pieces directly from the artist, so be sure to visit his studio.
