This year marks a very special milestone as we celebrate 25 years of the Kāpiti Coast Art Trail. From its grassroots beginnings in 2001 to the vibrant, two-weekend event it is today, the Trail has grown into one of Aotearoa’s largest and most loved open studio events.
Inside the 2025 Guide, you’ll find everything you need to explore more than 140 artists, galleries, and creative spaces across the district, from Paekākāriki through to Ōtaki. It’s your companion to discovering painters, potters, sculptors, jewellers, photographers, textile artists and so much more.
Our cover star for this year’s guide is local legend Diane Connal (D.C Jewellery), who has been part of the Trail since its very first year. Diane’s work and her Waikanae Beach studio reflect the spirit of the event: creativity, connection, and the joy of meeting artists where they create.
You’ll spot the printed guide at Kāpiti Coast District Council service centres and libraries, and at popular spots across the Wellington region (and beyond, thanks to our supporters around the motu).
While the printed guide is beautiful, don’t forget you can also plan your Trail digitally. Our Plan Your Trail tool lets you “favourite” artists, map your route, and send directions straight to your phone, making it easier than ever to build your own creative adventure.
Everyone who uses Plan Your Trail this year will also go in the draw to win a $300 Art Trail voucher to spend with any of our participating artists.
