Brett Keno’s inspiration for his beautiful sculptures comes from nature and his Māori heritage (Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, and Ngāi Tahu). He and his wife Christine (also an artist) both like to work in sedimentary limestone (also known as Omarau Stone), which is continuously renewed by the earth.
Together, they reduce wastage by donating offcuts to local schools for their projects. Brett collects the limestone dust to donate to local lifestyle block owners for their gardens. He also forages for driftwood for incorporating into some of his works.
