Competition terms and conditions
Terms and conditions for promotions run by the Kāpiti Coast District Council including, but not limited to, our websites, emails and social media channels, including Kāpiti Coast Art Trail, Visit Kāpiti and Have Your Say website.
- By participating in any competition or giveaway (the “Competition”) advertised by Kāpiti Coast District Council. You confirm that you accept and agree to these competition terms.
- The Promoter of the Competition is the Kāpiti Coast District Council. The competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Facebook and/or other social media channels and website platforms. You completely release Facebook and/or other social media channels and website platforms from any and all liability associated with this competition.
- Entry is open to all persons aged 16 years or over. Employees and elected members of the Kāpiti Coast District Council and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
- Only one valid entry per entrant will be accepted for each competition.
- Entrants must follow the instructions on the Competition website, email, Facebook post and/or other social media channel to be eligible for the associated prize.
- The Competition will begin when the competition post has been uploaded to one of our websites, Facebook pages and/or other social media channel (the “Competition Period”). The Competition Period will end on the date specified in the competition post.
- The Kāpiti Coast District Council reserves the right to modify, alter or cancel the contest at any time, for any reason and without prior notification.
- By entering this competition, you agree that any person clearly identified in your entry has given their consent for their photo (personal information) to be shared for the purposes of this competition.
- By entering, each entrant warrants that their entry is original and that their submission does not or will not infringe any third party's intellectual property.
- The Kāpiti Coast District Council will not accept responsibility for any late submissions, any entries that are not received or any entries or files that are corrupt, damaged, lost or inaccessible.
- Participants must comply with all requirements of Kāpiti Coast District Council, including requirements specified in these Terms and Conditions. Kāpiti Coast District Council may, at its absolute discretion, declare any or all entries made by a participant invalid if the participant:
- fails to establish their entitlement to enter the Competition to Kāpiti Coast District Council’s satisfaction
- tampers with, or benefits from any tampering with, the entry process or the operation of the Competition
- submits an entry that is, in the opinion of the Kāpiti Coast District Council, not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions
- acts in a disruptive manner or acts with the intent to annoy, abuse, embarrass, threaten, or harass any other person
- in the opinion of Kāpiti Coast District Council, engages in conduct in entering the Competition that is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, spamming, or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the Competition and/or Kāpiti Coast District Council.
- At the end of the Competition Period the Kāpiti Coast District Council will select a winner or winners for each competition from entries received during the Competition Period.
- The winner(s) will be drawn as specified by the Website, Email, Competition post on Facebook and/or other social media channel. The prize winner(s) will receive the prize that is advertised on either the Website, Email, Facebook Competition post, the Facebook Competition photo and/or other social media channel.
- Prizes are not refundable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
- The Kāpiti Coast District Council will endeavour to notify each of the prize winners via Email or Facebook and/or other social media channel. However, if the winner cannot be reached within five working days of the prize being drawn, the Kāpiti Coast District Council may redraw a new prize winner without liability to any person. The Kāpiti Coast District Council reserves the right to contact the selected winners by other means.
- The Kāpiti Coast District Council is not responsible for any prize that has been lost, stolen, damaged or tampered with in any way before it reaches a winner and after it has been released from the Kāpiti Coast District Council’s custody and control.
- By participating in the Competition, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions, including all eligibility requirements. You also accept that all decisions made by the Kāpiti Coast District Council are final and binding in all matters relating to the Competition.
- The Kāpiti Coast District Council may collect your personal information (name and contact details) for the purpose of administering and processing the Competition only. Any personal information collected as part of this Competition will be held by the Kāpiti Coast District Council in accordance with its obligations under the Privacy Act 2020. You have the right to access, update and correct any of your personal information. To access or request correction of your personal information please contact [email protected].
- Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the competition should be directed to the Kāpiti Coast District Council by emailing [email protected]
- The competition and the terms and conditions will be governed by New Zealand law and subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
Kāpiti Coast Art Trail 2025 — Additional Terms
Applies to the following Art Trail promotions:
- Competition A: “Plan Your Trail” $300 Voucher Draw
- Competition B: “E-Newsletter Sign-Up” $200 Voucher Draw
- Prizes & draw dates
- Competition A: Prize is $300 in Art Trail Vouchers issued as six (6) x $50 vouchers. Draw: Tuesday 4 November 2025, 12:00 pm NZDT.
- Competition B: Prize is $200 in Art Trail Vouchers issued as four (4) x $50 vouchers. Draw: Wednesday 29 October 2025, 12:00 pm NZDT.
- How to enter & eligibility
- Competition A (Plan Your Trail): Entrants must be registered for the Plan Your Trail feature and have actively used it during 2025 prior to the draw (defined as at least one login and one activity such as favouriting an artist, generating/sending a route, or similar). Returning users from previous years are eligible if they have actively logged in during 2025.
- Competition B (EDM Sign-Up): Entrants must have subscribed to the Art Trail EDM/newsletter in 2025 (any date/time during calendar year 2025 up to the close time below).
- Entry limits: The general condition “one valid entry per entrant per competition” applies.
- Competition close times
- Competition B: Entries close 12:00 pm NZDT, Wednesday 29 October 2025.
- Competition A: Entries close 12:00 pm NZDT, Tuesday 4 November 2025.
- Winner notification
Winners will be contacted directly via email using the email address associated with their entry (Plan Your Trail account email or EDM subscription email). Entrants are responsible for ensuring their email address is current and deliverable. If a winner does not respond within five (5) working days of our first email, a redraw may occur in accordance with our general terms.
- Voucher use
- Vouchers are redeemable only with participating Kāpiti Coast Art Trail 2025 artists during the Trail open studio hours (10:00 am–4:00 pm) on 1–2 November 2025 and 8–9 November 2025.
- Vouchers are issued in $50 denominations. No change will be given. Where a purchase exceeds the voucher value, the difference must be paid by the winner.
- Vouchers are not transferable, not replaceable if lost or stolen, not refundable, and not redeemable for cash. Vouchers must be surrendered to the artist at the point of purchase.
- Verification
For eligibility verification, we may match the winner’s name and email against (i) their Plan Your Trail account activity (Competition A) or (ii) the EDM database date-stamp (Competition B). If we cannot verify eligibility, we may redraw.
- Privacy (specific to these competitions)
In addition to our general privacy clause, by entering you consent to us using the email you provided to verify eligibility and to contact you if you win.
